Saturday Games

9/27 - Southside defeated Northside 19-6:   The battle for the city championship was on the line at Strider Field Saturday afternoon as the Southside Blue Devils defeated the Northside Warriors 19-6. The offensive line for the Blue Devils consisting of Jacob Mcbride, Maiker Anderson, Damien Jackson, Cody Lange, and Erik Tingue paved the way for an aeriel and ground attack. Steve Nowell had 3 catches for 72 yards including a 21 yard touchdown reception from Mitch Liuzzo. Southside amassed over 200 yards rushing by committee. Mike Gustafson, Andrew Caldwell, Karee Rizzo-Walker, and Devin Kent shared the carries. Kent broke free for a 50 yard touchdown run and Caldwell ran in the extra point. Liuzzo also scored on a 1 yard quarterback sneak. Kyle Liuzzo and Kevin Mosely led the Southside defense with 6 tackles each. Joey Mahoney had a quarterback sack and forced a fumble. David Silliman also played stellar pass defense in the secondary. For the Warriors, Jake Johnson, Connor Stam, and Harrison Tyra led the way for the Northside defense. On offense, Brandon Johnson rushed for a tough 65 yards and Ben Larson hooked up with Steve Carlson on a 12 yard touchdown pass as time expired to end the game.

Northside JVs defeated Southside JVs 32-6:  Northside beat Southside 32-6 in a JV matchup Saturday.  Noah Johnson ran for one TD and threw an extra point to Nick Lane while Zacc Kinsey piled up 213 yards on just 5 carries.  Kinsey found the end zone 3 times, and Richard Williams tacked on a late touchdown with a 54 yard run.  Defensively for the Warriors, Bannon Eimiller led the way with 11 tackles.  Ryan Nordwall, Jovian Maisonet, Tyler Coulter, and Tommy Wofford played excellent defensively as well.  Corey Jackson ran hard for the Blue Devils, amassing 73 yards.  Davante Strudwick scored the lone Southside TD.  Nick D'Angelo and Matthew Caldwell played outstanding on defense.

Fredonia defeated Dunkirk 6-0:  In what could be called the best defensive game of the year and where both teams came out hitting hard!  Weston Lee scores the only TD in the 2nd quarter.  Both offenses moved the ball well, but both defenses dug in when they needed to.  Late in the 4th quarter, Dunkirk drove the ball down field to inside the Fredonia 20.  With under 2 minutes left in the game, it's there where the Fredonia defense came up big, stopping Dunkirk on all 4 downs.  Fredonia then took over, and with a few seconds left, ran out the clock.  Both offenses played well, but it's both defenses that all the way around played great.  THANK YOU to the Dunkirk & Fredonia communities for supporting the McKinnon family.  EVERYONE came through in a BIG WAY!!!!

Dunkirk JVs defeated Fredonia JVs 27-6:  Mike Pucci had the lone touchdown for Fredonia with a 35 yard scamper.  For Fredonia, Rich Banach, Jarod Burmaster and Ben McKelvey led the defense.

Falconer JVs defeated Cassadaga JVs 39-0:  The Falconer defense held tough with it's first shutout of the season. Defensive standouts for Falconer were Calvin Dowicki, Jake Peru, Brandon Reagal and Brandon Curtis who led in tackles an recovered a fumble.  For the offense, which saw ten different backs carry the ball, with scores coming from Tyler Himes with three TDs, Brandon Curtis two TDs and Calvin Nowicki one TD.  Ryan Depietro and Brett Payne added conversions.

9/27 - Westside defeated Frewsburg 12-6:  On a steamy fall day in Frewsburg the Westside Panther took a 12-0 lead and held on to win 12-6.  It was air attack of Damian Taylor throwing to Patrick Schmelzinger for two TD’s 9yds and 16yds which led the way.  Taylor added 124 yds rushing, while Schmelzinger anchored the Westside Defense with 9 Tackles and a recovered fumble.  Cameron Haberberger also had 7 tackles for Westside. In the trenches Trevor Thomas dug in for four tackles and two assists.  For Frewsburg Derek Smith had 84 yds rushing and Nick Long had 75 yds rushing and a TD. Collin Anderson let the Bear defense with 7 Tackles.
