2008 Season Re-cap

The Jayhawk Softball Team finished the season with a record of 17-15 and 14-9 in the Region. They played a very competitive schedule with all the top teams in the Region. They beat the #8,6 and 4 ranked teams in the country and played extremely competitively against the #2 ranked team in the country. Leading the offense for the Jayhawks was Erica Adams who batted .394 with 8 doubles, 3 triples, and 23 RBI's. Alexis Carlson came in 2nd with .380 including 5 doubles, 1 triple and 5 RBI's.Overall the team had a batting average of .295 with 834 total at bats. Rebecca Zimmerman and Amanda Mazurek were the backbones on the mound. Amanda had an ERA of 3.51 in 89 2/3, with 78 Strikeouts and a win/loss record of 8-7. Becca had a ERA of 3.61 in 89 1/3 innings and 83 strikeouts. Completing the season with a 8-6 win/loss record.  

The team didn't finish the season as they had hoped, but got a lot of respect around the region from other teams and coaches. Hopefully they can keep the success coming year after year.
