Coach
Giambruno gives his season wrap-up:
Although I was happy with the results of the JCC swim team in terms
of participation in the Nationals it was a little disappointing in
terms of team size. The southern tier area is full of great high
school swimming programs. Many of those students attend the JCC
campus while a portion of the area's top swimmers leave the area.
I'd like to see more kids come to JCC and continue with their
swimming careers. We only had three swimmers this year - all girls
and unfortunately not enough for a relay which is always a highlight
of a swimmer meet. My job now is to increase the awareness of the
swimming and diving program at JCC and get more participation.
Having said that, this year was a lot of fun, the girls worked very
hard to attain personal goals and all three made it to the
Nationals. It's a long five and a half month season so it's always
a struggle to maintain momentum and motivation but they pulled it
off with flying colors. I'm extremely proud of all three girls and
the dedication they showed in the pool. I'm really looking forward
to next year and hope to grow the program for the future." |
