Titans Swimming - 2009 - 2010 Season

48th Annual U. of Pitt Invitational

The Town of Tonawanda Titans traveled to the 48^th annual Christmas Invitational at the University of Pittsburgh.  Dec. 18-20.  Megan, Matthew and Andrew Marsh all had A cut times or faster to compete at this meet. Caroline and Chase McQueen also worked hard in their age groups to earn A cut times to be eligible to compete at this 3 day USA swimming meet. 

Megan swam personal best times in several events. She dropped time in her 200 freestyle, 100 IM, 200 breaststroke, and her 50 breaststroke.  Megan earned 1^st place in her 50 breaststroke (32.79), and two second places in her 100 breaststroke(1:11.94) and 200 breast (2:35.80).  She also earned eighth place in her 100 IM (1:05.79)

Matthew Marsh swam to personal best times in most of his events, including the 200 free, 100 IM, 200 back, 100 free, 100 breast, 200 IM, and the 200 breast.  He placed fifth in his 200 breast with a 2:47.54, eighth in his 200 back (2:25.85), ninth in his 50 free (26.95) and twelfth place in his 100 free (58.84).

Chase McQueen had a great meet in which he lowered his times earning him personal best times in all seven individual events in the 11-12 year old boys age group. These events included the 50 fly, 100 fly, 100IM, 200 IM, 50 free, 100 free and the 200 backstroke.  He earned eighth place in his 100 fly (1:08.69) and tenth place in his 200IM(2:27.26).

Caroline, age 8, dropped 4 seconds in her 100 IM (1:39.22) and over 2 seconds in her 100 free (1:23.85)

TITAN USA Holiday Time Trial

The Town of Tonawanda Titans hosted their annual USA Swimming Holiday Time Trial Meet, at the AFC in Tonawanda, NY.  Results are posted below.

Erie CC December Meet

The Tonawanda Titans attended the Star Invitational this past weekend. The Invitational was held at the Flickinger Center at Erie Community College. Twenty-six teams were represented at this meet. Megan Marsh earned 1^st place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.57) and the 50 breaststroke (33.02) in the women’s ll-12 year old age group.  She had personal best times in both events.  She also contributed to three first place relay finishes for the Titans in the 200 free relay (1:47.49), the 400 free relay (3.53.68) and the 200-medley relay (1:57.65).  All three relays beat TITAN club records in these events.  Matthew Marsh earned personal best times in his 100 backstroke (1:08.83), 50 freestyle (26.84), 50 breaststroke (35.30) and the 100 breaststroke (1:18.38) Matthew earned points for his team, placing 7^th in the 50 breaststroke, 11^th in the 50 freestyle, and 12^th in the 100 breaststroke. Andrew Marsh earned a personal best in his 200 backstroke (2:03.11) He swam strong in his freestyle events, a 49.11 in his 100 freestyle, and a 22.47 in his 50 freestyle. 

Titans Host Halloween GSB Meet

The Tonawanda Titans hosted their annual Halloween Gold, Silver, Bronze Meet this past weekend in Tonawanda, NY.  Ten USA swim teams from Allegheny Mountain and Niagara District competed in this meet. Megan Marsh swam personal bests in all ten of her events.  She earned first place finishes in the 200 IM (2:18.98) and the 50 breaststroke (33.54).  She swam to strong second place finishes in the 100 IM (1:05.98), and the 1000 freestyle (11:50.60) for 11-12yr girls division. Chase McQueen swam personal bests in the 200 backstroke (2:33.74), 100 freestyle (1:01.39), and the 50 breaststroke (38:05).  He earned first place finishes in the 11-12 yr. boys division in the 200 IM and the 200 back for his Titan’s swim team. Matthew Marsh swam four personal bests in the 200 free (2:10.53) the 100 fly (1:17.13), the 50 breast (36.98), and the 500 freestyle (5:52.01).  He was a first place finisher in the 11-12yr. boys 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, and the 500 freestyle. Caroline McQueen dropped over 10 sec in her 200 freestyle (3:11.27) to finish second place in the 8 and under girls division. She earned 25points for her team in the 8 and under girls division.

Titans Swim at ECC KATS Invite 

Town of Tonawanda Swim Club swimmers started their short course season this past weekend at the ECC Kats Invitational in Buffalo.  Over 60 Titan swimmers competed in the meet.  Local swimmer, Megan Marsh, had an outstanding meet, swimming personal best times in all eight of her swims.  She had 1^st place finishes in the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke events and the 100 IM.  Eleven-year-old Megan earned 12 year old AAA times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke.  Caroline McQueen, another local swimmer, swam to first place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle in the 8 and under division.  She had three personal best swims and scored 97 points for her team.
