Sunny and 60 at East Syracuse Minoa High School for a football game less than a week before Thanksgiving? There was about as good of a chance of that happening as there was having the Southwestern Trojans make it to the state championship game next week at the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University.
Well
guess what!!! The Trojans are
headed back to Syracuse next
weekend for the .....
With two of the most threatning players in Western New York squaring off against each other in the likes of Daryl Spencer for (Cleveland Hill) and Jake Swan (Southwestern), the WNY football guru's were expecting a shoot-out with a lot of big plays by Swan and Spencer. After all, everyone was kind of expecting that. Swan and Spencer had combined for 34 touchdowns this year, each scoring 17. It was shocking when after two quarters of play, the score was 0-0. At that point, the general consensus was that the advantage goes to Southwestern, as they had coach Jay Sirianni that has come to be known as "Mr. Adjustment" at half-time. In the 2nd half it was the same solid defense by both sides, it just appeared as Southwestern was a step faster and seemed to hit a little harder. Then throw in a couple of "highlight real" plays by Jake Swan and the game was over. Southwestern wins 10-0..... VIEW PHOTO GALLERY
The Jamestown Red Raiders had a season filled with obstacles throughout the year. Each and every time, the Radiers overcame adversity and prevailed, closing out their regular season with only 1 loss and knocking off their first two playoff opponents. They did that again Friday night when they were facing the Orchard Park Quakers. The Red Raiders had lost to Orchard Park earlier in the year and the Quakers were undefeated. All of the "in the know" high school ..... VIEW PHOTO GALLERY

fireworks started early as
Frewsburg broke the opening
play for a long touchdown and
the big plays and exciting
plays continued throughout the
game, but it was the Red
Dragons who prevailed in the
end to win the game 34-26.....

In the rain and on a muddy field, Jamestown and Kenmore West were knotted at 7 points each at the half, but in the second half, the Red Raiders got it together, kept their composure, outscored Ken West 26-0 on their way to a 33-7 victory while locking up a trip to Ralph Wilson Stadium this Friday night to play in the Section 6 Class AA Championship. They will take on the Orchard Park Quakers, the only team to beat the Red Raiders all year. Game time is ..... VIEW PHOTO GALLERY
I missed it!I wasn't there, but I got all of the highlights real-time thanks to my iPhone via text, talk, video and pics!! My contacts were updating me literally play by play for most of the second half! And I heard it live when Tanner Hoose booted a 28 yard field goal to send the Fredonia Hillbillies down the street back to Fredonia. The game was being played at Dunkirk High School on their brand new turf field due to Fredonia's field conditions. Southwestern now advances to Ralph Wilson Stadium where they will play for the Section 6 Class C Championship......
