The 2012 YMCA basketball season got underway Saturday with action in both gyms at the YMCA, Love School and the Levant gym. Stop in to see the action every Saturday from now through March. The action in this opening week started with the 1st - 3rd grade co-eds with Jenna Stockwell winning the Honest John's Player of the Game for the Little Warriors other winners of Player of the Game includes.....

Red Hot Fireballs- Grace Garland
Optimus Prime- Colin Melendez
Little Raiders- Jaymin Morano
3-4 Grade Boys:
The Bulls defeated the Lakers by the score of 23 to 18. Leading the Bulls was Elijah Rojas with 10 points, and Simeon Leeper and Jordan Russo both with 4 points. For the Lakers Evan Anderson had 6 points, and Josh Loomis and Kameron Rhoades had 4. The Honest John’s players of the game were Evan Anderson for the Lakers, and Elijah Rojas for the Bulls.
The Warriors defeated Chautauqua Lake by the score of 43-35. the Warriors were led by Jordan Crofoot with 16 points and Harrison Monfort with 10. Chautauqua Lake was led by Michael Anderson with 12, and Noah Adams and Nathan Engdahl both with 4 points. The Honest John’s players of the game were Jordan Crofoot for the Warriors and Michael Anderson for Chautauqua Lake.
Randolph defeated the Raider Boys 54-25. Randolph’s leading scorers were Kaleb Steward with 18, Branson Morrison with 13, and Tyler Hind added 12. The raider Boys were led by Peter Auer with 13, and Calvin Ricker with 7. The Honest John’s players of the game were Isaac Hind for Randolph, and Peter Auer for the Raider Boys.
4, 5 & 6 Grade Girls:
The Running Rebels defeated Cassadaga by the score of 43-16. For the Rebels katelyn Bennett had a huge game and scored 22 points. Chelsey Vincent added 8. Cassadaga was led by Savannah Nickerson with 4 points. The Honest John’s players of the game were Katelyn Bennett for the Running Rebels and Holly Miller for Cassadaga.
The Warren Dragons topped Youngsville by the score of 24-18. the Dragons were led by Rachel Wilson with 10 points, and Margo Loutzenhiser with 6. For Youngsville Madeline Cratty had 8 points, and Caitlin Craig had 4. The Honest John’s players of the game were Rachel Wilson for Warren, and Caitlin Craig for Youngsville.
Fredonia got their first victory of the year by defeating Falconer. Fredonia was led by Sydney Bigelow who scored 12 points, and Alison Cortes and Mackenzie Markham who both put in 10 points. Falconer was led by Amanda Mead. The Honest John’s players of the game were Sydney Bigelow and Amanda Mead.
After defeating Falconer, Fredonia went on also to defeat the Dominators by the score of 23-13. Falconer was led in their second game by Kathryn Price with 10 points, and Alison Cortes with 5. The Dominators were led by Arianna Rhone with 6, and Macey Lundmark with 4. The Honest John’s players of the game were Kathryn Price for Fredonia, and Arianna Rhone for the Dominators.
Panama defeated Orange Crush by the score of 28-14. Panama was led by Madalyn Bowan who scored 10 points, and Elle Angeletti with 6 points. Morgan Brightman led Orange Crush with 10 points. The Honest John’s players of the game were Madalyn Bowan for Panama, and Taylor Brightman for Orange Crush.
5-6 Grade Boys:
The DaBallers started off the year with a victory over the Dream Team by the score of 48-20. The DaBallers had a team effort with Priest Jones and Marcus Rojas both scoring ten points. The Dream Team was led by Chris Beardsley with 6 points, and Austin Prunty with 6. The Honest John’s players of the game were Hunter Bogey for DaBallers, and Levi Moore for the Dream Team.
The Defaults defeated Southwestern 38-18. The Defaults were led by Noah Larson with 14 points, and Anthony Gullo with 10. Southwestern was led by Brian Burns, Luke Heil, and Derek Miller who each had 4 points. The Honest John’s players of the game were Jake Eimiller for the Defaults, and Luke Heil for Southwestern.
Chautauqua Lake defeated the Raiders by the score of 48-20. Chautauqua Lake was led by Kyler Majka with 16 points, and Blane Thomas with 10. The Raiders were led by Jameson DeLong with 8 points, and Peyton Olson with 6. The Honest John’s players of the game were Blane Thomas for Chautauqua Lake, and Jerecho Johnson for the Raiders.
Bemus Point defeated the Celtics 36-18. Bemus Point was led by Ben Cresanti with 8 points, and Nicholas Brown, Simon Olson, and Drew Boggs all with 6. The Celtics were led by Trent Gray with 6 points. The Honest John’s players of the game were Ben Cresanti for Bemus Point, and Trent Gray for the Celtics.
7-8 Grade Girls:
Falconer defeated Southwestern 34-23. The Falconer girls were led by Emma Steel with 13, and Kelly Keefe added 7. Southwestern leading scorer was Nicole Cooper with 7 points, and Diamond Fedrick added 5. The Honest John’s players of the game were Emma Steele for Falconer, and Diamond Fedrick for Southwestern.
Super 7 defeated panama Conway by the score of 43-18. Super 7 was led by Taylor Zachar who scored 15, and Marissa Hammilton who put in 12. Panama Conway was led by Kayla Conway who scored 6 points. The Honest John’s players of the game were Taylor Zachar for Super 7, and Kayla Conway for Panama Conway.
The Blue Devils outscored the Red Raiders by the score of 33-20. The Blue Devils were led by Amelia Manwaring with 10 points, and Haley King with 8 points. The Red Raiders were led by Abigail Merchant with 9 points, and Olivio Dwailabee with 6 points. The Honest John’s players of the game were Abigail Merchant for the Red Raiders, and both Abigail Merchant and Emilee Sperry for the Blue Devils.
7-8 Grade Boys:
The Tarheels defeated Maple Grove 54-31. The Tarheels were led by 7th grader Devon Jackson with 21 points, and Noah Johnson with 18. Maple Grove was led by Kassidy Howard, Michael Welsh, and Frank Zuroswki all with 8 points.
The Raiders defeated the Trojans 53-27. The Raiders were led by Trajan Wofford who put in 15 points and Tommy Wofford who added 12 points. The Trojans were led by Nick Cooper who scored 11 points. The Honest John’s players of the game were Trajan Woffard for the Raiders, and Nick Cooper for the Trojans.
