Jamestown Babe Ruth - Al Taylor Memorial Home Run Derby

Al Taylor Memorial Home Run Derby

April 26th, 2009

The Al Taylor Home Run Derby is being held to honor and remember Al Taylor who was known throughout the baseball and softball community. He first became nationally recognized when he pitched in the minor leagues and in his later years when he became very involved in softball umpiring and baseball coaching in Jamestown. Suddenly, in 2001 he was diagnosed and passed away of pancreatic cancer. As families who have been affected by cancer know, it is a difficult time for everyone and we don't want our future generations to endure the pain that this disease causes. That is why we are raising money for the American Cancer Society to support funding for cancer research and to help those battling cancer. Every $100,000 raised supports one research study that may be the cure and we wish to help contribute to that cure in any way possible.

Everyone Welcome - 10U can compete from a shorter distance
